Article I. Name and Purpose

Section 1 - Name

The name of the society is “INTERNATIONAL BANK NOTE SOCIETY”. It is incorporated under the non-profit corporation laws of the District of Columbia, United States of America, and operates as a non-profit educational organization under the provisions of Section 501c (3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. It is hereinafter referred to as the “IBNS”.

Section 2 - Purpose

The IBNS is organized for educational purposes and in furtherance of such purposes, its objectives are to promote, stimulate and advance the study and knowledge of worldwide bank notes and paper currencies and all matters related thereto along educational, scientific, and historical lines.

Section 3 - Terminology

1. Masculine terms are used throughout these bylaws solely for purposes of consistency and simplicity. This practice carries no gender implications, and these terms are intended to apply equally to both sexes.

2. The words “letter”, “in writing”, “written” and “mail” in addition to their normal meanings, will include “all forms of electronic communications”
